Beginning in evangelism can seem like an overwhelming task. One must overcome the fear of rejection in order to witness to people one-to-one. A way to overcome that fear and engage people with the gospel is to distribute gospel tracts.

I got my start in evangelism through distributing gospel tracts. I would go to the Christian bookstore every weekend and buy several hundred Chick tracts. I would leave them EVERYWHERE I went. I distributed many at my workplace often leaving them in the break area near the vending machines. People would take them almost immediately.
I actually had people come to me in my office to see if I had anymore of those “little books.” Even the machinist that claimed to be an agnostic would read them.
Soon, I would work up the nerve to actually hand them to people. From there, I worked up courage to actually share the gospel with people one-to-one. The rest is history so to speak.
The prince of preachers, Charles Spurgeon, once said, “When preaching and private talk are not available, you need to have a tract ready…Get good striking tracks, or none at all. But a touching gospel tract may be the seed of eternal life. Therefore, do not go out without your tracts.”
Check out this article from Moments With the Book. I frequently use their tracts for evangelism. I also create some of my own tracts. Usually, they are business card sized. I use them as conversation starters to get to the gospel.
