We always interact with many lost people and Christians at the Go Raleigh Transit station. It is not uncommon for us to witness to homeless people as well so we frequently bring bottled water and blessing bags with snacks and toiletries. Team members sometimes bring crocheted hats. We try to meet both physical and spiritual needs when possible.
It is common for the people awaiting the bus to come out of the station on cold days and stand in the “sunshine spot” where we set up to preach and witness. We call it the Sunshine Church for this reason.
We visit the transit station at least once a week. The result has been the building of relationships and the gaining of trust with people. Joe Toy got to talk with a lady who drives one of the buses yesterday. She had a family member that needed prayer and confided in him about the need.
Yesterday, as I was starting to preach, a lady approached me requesting prayer for the situation in our local schools. A couple of area schools were on lockdown due to threats posted on social media. So I held off on preaching and prayed with her. She told me that she saw us all the time and appreciated our efforts to reach the community.
We even have some regulars who show up and testify or sing with our team. These are solid Christians who have experienced some setbacks in life. Andre is one of them. He is currently working to get off the streets. When he shows up, he always has a song ready to go.
I’m thankful that God has provided opportunities like these to reach the lost and the least of these. Will you pray for our ongoing efforts at Sunshine Church in Downtown Raleigh?
