Darrel PreachingJoe Toy, Handing Out TractsPeter PreachingZack Witnessing to Campbell
Recently, I had the privilege of preaching the good news at the NC State vs. UNC football game in Raleigh NC with Joe Toy and some other brothers. I have wanted to join him all season but because of work, I have been hindered.
We had a great time preaching the gospel and handing out tracts. Hundreds of people streamed by our location as we had set up near one of the main entrances to Carter Finley Stadium.
There were a couple of good gospel conversations that took place because of the preaching. Gospel preaching often results in gospel conversations.
One young lady who talked to Zack, one of our team members, was agitated because we were publicly preaching the gospel. She claimed that it was wrong for us to be preaching to people who didn't want to be saved and that Jesus wouldn't do what we were doing.
As he spoke with her, she shared that she had attended kingdom hall as a young child. (Jehovah’s Witness). But, as the conversation went on, it was apparent that she was no longer active in that cult.
However, when Zach pressed her on the truth that Jesus was God in the flesh. She denied it as any JW would. She said she believed that Jesus was God’s son and that he had an element of God within him. This is a belief that is closer to Gnosticism that JW beliefs. It was clear that most of her understanding of salvation was a blend of JW beliefs and her own opinion.
Later, Zach had a conversation with a man named Campbell who was holding a 12 pack of Bud Light while taking occasional sips of an open one. Campbell claimed to have grown up going to church but clearly had no truthful understanding of salvation. Every time Zach would press forward with the gospel, Campbell would ask some crazy question to deflect the conversation.
As it came closer to game time, the crowd got rowdy. Many of the college students that had been partying at the nearby fraternity tents began to stream by us shouting and cursing. At one point, some people who had been tailgating behind us began to crank up the volume on their sound system playing “Highway to Hell” by AC/DC. Joe just cranked up his amp to compensate.
After I left, Joe shared that someone decided to shove his preaching amp over onto the side walk. Let me just say that the devil doesn’t like for Christians to invade his territory! All in all, it was a blessing to me to get out and exercise my spiritual gifts with the brothers. Please pray for the conversations that took place and for those who took gospel literature.
Until the Net is Full,
Darrel
