I thought I would give you a heads up on how to pray specifically for the Ocean City, Maryland boardwalk outreach. The dates are June 6 through the 11th, 2021. This will be my fourth time ministering in this environment.
One of the main tools that we use in our outreach is the sketch board. You can see a picture of it below.
This tool helps us communicate the gospel message. The sketch board catches people’s attention so that they stop to listen to the gospel being shared. I’m pretty new at using the sketch board so I get to learn each time I go out.
The sketch board also allows us to have one to one conversations with people who stop to listen. After the evangelist has preached the message, other team members engage the people who linger after the preaching. Not everyone stays around to talk but many people do. We realize that the Holy Spirit is working in each of these situations.
The mornings are filled with quiet times and devotion times. It’s also a time for us to build our fellowship with one another and with God. Some of us go out to the boardwalk in the afternoon and hand out gospel tracts and have more one-to-one conversations as God allows.
Here are a few ways that you can pray for us…
- Pray for peoples hearts to be open to the gospel message. Pray for the convicting power of the Holy Spirit to be felt in the hearts of each person that we talk with.
- Pray for us to have wisdom and discernment as we encounter different situations while on the boardwalk. Most of the conversations are friendly. Occasionally there are a few people that may be angry at what we are doing. Honestly, it’s usually the people who profess to be Christians that get upset the most at the preaching of the gospel.
- Pray for each team member as we prepare to travel and also forgot to provide for our needs during this outreach. I must raise $1100 to cover the cost of this outreach. I’m trusting God to provide.
